New Years Eve 2018 Style

Hello all!

I can’t believe this year passed us by so quickly! In honor of the biggest celebration to end 2018 and kick off the start of the New Year, I’m sharing my absolute favorite holiday party looks to dance into 2019. I’ve worn all of these looks to NYE parties in the past, so I’m happy to share updates to my party staples with you all!

My hair and makeup for these looks were created by Blo Blow-Dry Bar and Own Your Wonder.  Blo features special holiday hairstyle options, such as the “Pin Me Up” look I’m donning with beautifully crossed bobby pins.  It’s like jewelry for your hair and I’m officially obsessed! Blo salons are also located in cities throughout the US, so definitely check them out if you’re looking for a fun party hairstyle. Own Your Wonder is my favorite go-to spot for makeup!  It’s reasonable prices can’t be beat (when almost every other salon or makeup store costs $50 or more for a makeover) AND it’s a woman-owned small business! The entire staff there is so nice and they always kill it with whatever makeup look I’m going for.  They brought my “rust and gold inspired” holiday look to life for these photos and I am so pleased! If you live in the DC area or are just passing through, I highly recommend visiting.

Silver and Gold (Velvet)

Velvet is always a holiday favorite for me – the luxurious texture is so comfortable and makes me want to lounge around drinking mulled wine.  In metallic shades of gold, silver, and copper, these elegant pieces are showstoppers with a more subdued flair. There’s something about the feel of velvet combined with metallics that is just so wonderfully seasonal!

I paired my gold wrap dress (linked below) with fun accessories to keep my overall outfit light and festive.  A burgundy faux fur wrap keeps me warm when I’m not on the dance floor, comfy but quirky feather-pom heels ensure my feet stay festive, and ruby earrings add the sparkling finishing touch. I think the textured additions add a touch of flair!

Red Hot Glitz

Nothing screams New Years Eve to me quite like a bright sequined dress. This fiery number is from Dress the Population a few years ago and I love the daring cut and standout color.  Sequins are a texture I don’t get to wear very often, so I relish the opportunity when it arises.  These dresses are the perfect way to stand out and embrace boldness going into 2019!

Jumpin’ into 2019

Jumpsuits are the perfect option for dancing the night away!  They are ideal for a range of activities – from casual gatherings with friends and family to going out to a club to dance in the new year. I am also aware that not everyone is into wearing dresses for the holidays, so this is a great option to stand out and feel comfortable all night long.

I love a good black and white option for a feminine take on a tuxedo. This striking color contrast will definitely let your unique style shine through a sea of sequins and sparkles. Glam it up with bold jewels and a faux fur coat, and you’re all set to take on the new year!

My tuxedo stripe jumpsuit is from earlier this year and I unfortunately can’t find the exact match, but I’ve linked a bunch of great, similar standout options below!  I also donned my feather-pom heels, but metallic strappy heels would pair equally as well with this look. My faux fur coat was a Christmas present from last year and I consider it the perfect party topper.  It’s extremely cozy while still maintaining an air of luxury as I’m hopping from event to event.

This will be my third-to-last blog post of 2018 and I’m definitely starting to feel wistful reflecting back on everything that’s happened in the past year.  I’ll share more about my thoughts on the end of 2018 and start of 2019 in another post coming out soon.  In the meantime, enjoy all the fun celebrations, parties, and time with your loved ones before the new year kicks in!
