Seasonal Scents: My Three Favorite Winter Candles

Hey all!

I don’t know about you all, but I am OBSESSED with candles. When my apartment smells great, it makes me feel more at easy and comfy. I also adore switching out my candles to match the seasons and my mood – florals and sweeter, lighter scents for spring and summer and deeper, woodsy and cozy spiced scents for fall and winter.

I’m sharing a few of my all-time favorite winter candles with you today – they make great gifts for yourself or for others, and will definitely brighten up your day! I hope they inspire you to treat yourself or a loved one to a beautifully scented candle this season.

Frasier Fir – Votive Candle ($13) or Candle Tin ($19.50)

My mom always kept these “winter candles” around our house from November through February, so the scent immediately makes me think of the holidays! However, these Frasier Fir candles aren’t too sweet or aggressively earthy – they smell like a fresh pine forest after the first snow. Anytime I light these candles, I get compliments from friends about how great they smell. It’s not overwhelming or too holiday-themed, so you can get use out of them all season long.

In my small apartment, one votive in a central room carries a strong scent, but if you have a larger space to fill up, you may want to opt for the tin or diffusers. A little does go a long way with these candles.

Anthropologie Holiday Tin Candle in Mulled Wine ($22)

Although this candle only comes in one size, it is worth the splurge and will last you for years. I’m rather picky about my spice scents not being too sweet or too harsh, and this cinnamon-infused candle is the perfect balance. You can have it lit for a few moments and already your home will be transported back to an era of holiday balls and traditional dances. I always receive tons of compliments from friends that ask if I’ve been brewing mulled wine that day – so this is also the perfect scent for hosting holiday parties!

Illume Honeycomb Candle in Spruce Nectar ($44, currently on sale for $30)

If you’re looking for an unusual scent this holiday season, the spruce nectar candle is for you! I was taken aback by how beautifully the classic pine scent seamlessly combined with the subtle honey undertones in this candle. The sweet and earthy aspects blend beautifully to form a unique scent that fills the air with nature. Also, the beautiful honeycomb candle holder is an instant aesthetic mood booster for any room!

Honorable Mentions:

Anthropologie Holiday Tin Candle in Hot Buttered Rum ($22, currently on sale for $15) – a runner up to the Mulled Wine version, above, this one is a bit sweet for me but makes a perfect holiday gift for the hostess in your life.

Yankee Candle Balsam and Cedar in Small Classic Jars or  Medium Classic Jars ($11 or $26.50) – a classic winter forest scent that comes in affordable pricing. You really can’t go wrong with Yankee Candles!

Illume Good Natured Soy Holiday Tin Candle in Winter White ($22, currently on sale for $15) – a fresh, classic outdoorsy winter scent that gives a different spin on the typical pine.

Voluspa Macaron Candles, Set of 2 in Butter Cookie and Gingembre ($28, currently on sale for $19) – I love a good gift set and this gives a sweeter and spicier option for you to choose from. I’m partial to the gingerbread-infused gingembre, but both are delighful for the holidays.

I hope these scents spread holiday cheer and keep you cozy and inspired all winter long! Let me know if there are any candles I should be on the lookout for that aren’t on this list, too!

XOXO
